Despite the fact that we were last night spared an all out war over the ultimate coronation of the reviled ‘homosexual agenda’ that seemed imminent only days ago and would have served to throw even more gasoline on the eternal flames of bigotry and hatred that have smoldered for too long in this land as well as to elicit a joint condemnation from the likes of ideological twins Ayman al-Zawhiri and James Dobson the heavy favorite for Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards, Brokeback Mountain lost. The fight will go on as it always does for those seeking to deny the basic human and civil rights to all who don’t think or ‘worship’ as they do but the kindling for the bonfire of fear and loathing that would have been all an out activist mobilization to ensure that EVERY ballot in every precinct in America had at least one anti-homosexuality measure included as bait to the bigots has at least temporarily been postponed. The NCR can save their powder for today at least save for the inevitable gloating over the film’s defeat.
Despite months of hype Brokeback Mountain failed to win the once imminent and highly coveted Best Picture award which instead went to Crash, an ensemble picture on racial issues (another bugaboo of the fascist right but easier to disguise with code worlds in order to better manipulate the masses), so the great and precious mythology of the American cowboy that is our national treasure is safe for now and pretty soon people will forget all of the hoopla and stop asking those heretical questions on just what exactly caused John Wayne to walk that particular way that he always did. An attention deficit afflicted public and just move on to the next thing, like trying to memorize the names of the Simpsons and continue to ignore that ‘goddamned piece of paper’ that is the U.S. Constitution.
Even though Brokeback Mountain went down (certainly no pun intended) the voters made other subtle political statements through awarding the Best Actress award to Rachel Weisz for her role in The Constant Gardner which examined the treacherous nature of a transnational pharmaceutical corporation and a Best Supporting Actor to the great George Clooney and his excellent Syriana which peels the facade of legitimacy away from our world in order to give a peek to the systemic corruption and collusion of the participants in the so called ‘war on terror’. The fact that Clooney has recently laid himself on the line by diligently working to get films produced (Including Good Night and Good Luck which documents the era of McCarthyist witch hunting of in an era before Bush-Rove) in this most despicable of an American era that bother to ask the provocative questions otherwise not allowed to be conceptualized by the bleating sheep of tv nation by the powers that be. Clooney’s political statement films have to no surprise made him a sworn enemy of the ultra fascist contingent of the extremist right wing. So the Syriana award serves as a big helping of FUCK YOU to that rancid, shit-eating, pinched-faced, neocon prick of an attack shill and pimp for the Leo Strauss/Osama Bin Laden sponsored agenda of an eternal war of civilizations Charles Krauthammer for his most recent vitriolic, shameless piece of smoldering ass-wipe attacking Clooney by essentially abeling him as a ‘collaborator’ of terrorism and another big FUCK YOU to that insipid queen of conservative media harpies Ann Coulter whose nauseating bile will undoubtedly be flowing over the results like the poison river of reheated McCarthyist toxic waste that it has always been.
Despite the ubiquitous propaganda that indundates the masses through the continual evocation of fear and the manipulation of the bewildered herd over phony moral issues and by instilling a fervor of nationalism disguised as patriotic flag waving in the name of the vaguely defined concept of national security the real war on American values was not being conducted in Hollywood. It is occurring in Washington D.C. and throughout this once great land on a daily basis, waged on very ideals of what made this country great by the fear mongering, self-serving, avarice obsessed lot of Wall Street whores and Military Industrial Complex lackeys in America’s true Sodom and Gomorrah on the shores of the Potomac. The cowardly renewal of the USA PATRIOT act by the U.S. Congress is a signal to all that this government has now firmly taken a stance of advocating tyranny against it’s own citizens.
The first time, that this enabling act was passed during the panic stricken aftermath in the days following the 9/11 ‘terrorist’ attacks it could almost be dismissed as a knee jerk overreaction to circumstances despite its despicable and indefensible intrusion on civil liberties. At the time a fear stricken legislative body reeling from the delivery of military grade Anthrax to certain influential members had for the most part been cowed into backing a widespread and far reaching tool that was so potentially and ominously threatening to the most important of our freedoms if misused that it was originally given an expiration clause to allow it go pass quietly into the good night once it was used as advertised as a ‘temporary’ and necessary defense measure against any more terrorist attacks in the aftermath of the greatest mass murder on American soil in history perpetrated by a malevolent menace that hates us for our freedoms and liberties.
Now over five years past the 9/11 dawn of the new American century it is apparent that the true enemy that hates us for our freedoms and liberties is not wearing a turban, it has wrapped itself tightly in the stars and stripes just as Huey P. Long once reportedly said that it would:
“If Fascism ever comes to America, it will come wrapped in an American flag” Long also offered these words of wisdom that ring truer in today’s poisoned political climate than ever, “The only difference I ever found between the Democratic leadership and the Republican leadership is that one of them is skinning you from the ankle up and the other, from the neck down.”
In their nearly overwhelming renewal of the USA PATRIOT Act congress has chosen up sides once and for all by making a deal with the devil and bartering away the precious rights of Americans for less then pennies on the rapidly devalued dollar. As Andrew Jackson once said of the British we now can say of the Bush administration and it’s whore two house-one party fascist government, “they are the common enemies of all mankind”. Now the truth is known that the true malevolent menace that hates us for our freedoms and liberties is that of our very own government, the whores to the globalist corporate interests seeking to strangle us in their pursuit of one world order corporatist slave government. The word is getting out and they are fearful, now is the time for the lockdown, the restructuring of the laws to allow for the arrest and extermination of the dissidents and those who are only now becoming aware as to the true threat to our humanity that is the imperialist neo Nazi new world order riding high on a king hell tide of uber capitalist sponsored propaganda churned out by media conglomerates that are nothign but concubines to the military industrialists and the Wall Street traitors whose true colors are in green not red, white and blue and certainly not the color of the precious red blood of our youth being shed in the name of profiteering and empire in the deserts of Iraq and very soon if you are to believe renegade U.N. Ambassador and Bush administration recess appointee John Bolton whose belicose, drum beating in front of an AIPAC audience over the weekend is a harbinger that the blood of the young will soon be spent in the mountains of Iran as well.
The betrayal of American ideals by this most craven of packs of lackeys and sycophants in the congress has also facilitated the following weekend stories which not surprisingly managed to once again fly under the radar, sacrificed on the altar of celebrity sensationalism and trash journalism:
The Real War: White House Targets Media Leaks as the fascist thugs in the most blatantly corrupt White House in American history decide that not actually owning the press is enough to crush the first amendment the threat of prosecution up to accusations of treason and subsequent imprisonment is the surest way to stifle whatever remains of dissent and the free flow of information. As New York Times editor Bill Keller is quoted “I don’t know how far action will follow rhetoric but some days it sounds like the administration is declaring war at home on the values that it professes to be promoting abroad”. The words of Keller may be true but he won’t be able to count on either a complicit congress stacked with fascist lackeys the likes of Pat Roberts of Kansas or the CIA of longtime Bush family crony Porter Goss to run anything other than the rigged game that is necessary for the ultimate survival of the rats.
Iraq Death Squads: ‘Driller Killers’ Spread A New Horror In Iraq, John Negroponte’s Reagan era Central American terror patrols and death squads surface again in Iraq as the sickening news comes out (In a British paper of course) that methods representative of the spirit of Saddam aka the New Hitler is alive and well as selective targeting of political opponents is once again in vogue in Baghdad per the below excerpt of this gruesome story:
“I walked home barefoot in a terrible state,” he said. “I could not call any official to report this. How could I when they were involved?” Two days later he found his friends’ bodies in the city’s Teb al-Adli mortuary. Mustafa’s right eye had been gouged out and his right leg broken. Other parts of his body appeared to have been penetrated by an electric drill, an increasingly common tool of torture in Iraq.
These are but two of the real stories ignored while celebrity glitz ran amok with Academy Awards tributes and pro sports labor issues in which millionaire NFL athletes moan like piss babies over their lack of union power, the joke is that the prima donnas are among the last assholes in this economic wasteland who even have any semblence of a right remaining to collectively bargain, the rest of the non- celebrity public faces economic ruination on a daily basis as the global corporatist system pillages and sucks the life of this country’s once mighty industrial and manufacturing base in search of markets to exploit abroad for the sake of the same mighty fucking dollar that our ‘elected representatives’ have sold our nation’s soul for in turn for a place at the altar of greed and avarice.
Also lost in the electronic grist of the propaganda mill was the sentencing of corrupt GOP Congressman and war profiteer ‘Duke’ Cunningham to eight years for being caught red handed in his sale of America to military industrial interests, there is more to come as the entire fucking barrel is full of rotten apples and the wood is rapidly itself decomposing with more ‘leaks’ leading to more investigations into those treasonous slithering snakes who have cashiered the American Dream while we have been sleeping. They are scared shitless now and the USA PATRIOT act’s renewal despite full knowledge of the totalitarian nature of it’s intent is nothing other than a declaration of war by the sitting illegitimate government against it’s own citizens. Now is the time to take up arms, take advantage of your second amendment rights that were established by our ever more brilliant in retrospect forefathers as a bulwark against internal despotism.
Buy your guns and start stockpiling your ammunition now because the bastards will soon be coming for you who have tried to believe in their best intentions as well as I who have known what fascism was being hatched right here in America. You see, we are all allies despite the clever manipulations by GOP front groups such as the NRA, The Christian Coalition and any of the other highly funded right wing think tanks and echo chambers that seek only to divide and conquer through keeping all of those who are being victimized by this insane system in a state of confusion, fear and bigotry. It is all a distraction, a meticulously staged alternate reality, the effects of which will only begin to wear off once it becomes too late. Then all will begin to realize that they have been duped into giving away all that we claim to hold precious as Americans while being slowly betrayed by a rigged system and a media infrastructure designed to brainwash, distract and indoctrinate.
We are all on the same side even if most don’t realize it yet and we are ALL potential terrorists in the eyes of this monstrous government that has risen to power and now threatens to drag this country into the abyss of despotism. The threat had it’s genesis long ago with the rise of the 19th century robber barons and industrialists who dominated the country, set up trusts as well as a corrupt Wall Street ponzi scheme that would exploit the citizenry while building foreign powers into war machines into which to feed our young in the name of profits. General Smedley D. Butler of the United States Marine Corps addressed this in his classic tract War Is A Racket . The tide of domestic fascism was beaten back temporarily but reconfigured in the late days of the second world war with the rescue of Nazi war criminals to assimilate into the intelligence and industrial sectors via Operation Paperclip. It then became the dominant force in American society with the rise of the military industrial (and now with the advent of technology the surveillance industrial) complex over the past forty five years since President Eisenhower warned of it’s coming in his farewell address delivered on January 17, 1961:
Good evening, my fellow Americans.
First, I should like to express my gratitude to the radio and television networks for the opportunities they have given me over the years to bring reports and messages to our nation. My special thanks go to them for the opportunity of addressing you this evening.
Three days from now, after half century in the service of our country, I shall lay down the responsibilities of office as, in traditional and solemn ceremony, the authority of the Presidency is vested in my successor. This evening, I come to you with a message of leave-taking and farewell, and to share a few final thoughts with you, my countrymen.
Like every other — Like every other citizen, I wish the new President, and all who will labor with him, Godspeed. I pray that the coming years will be blessed with peace and prosperity for all.
Our people expect their President and the Congress to find essential agreement on issues of great moment, the wise resolution of which will better shape the future of the nation. My own relations with the Congress, which began on a remote and tenuous basis when, long ago, a member of the Senate appointed me to West Point, have since ranged to the intimate during the war and immediate post-war period, and finally to the mutually interdependent during these past eight years. In this final relationship, the Congress and the Administration have, on most vital issues, cooperated well, to serve the nation good, rather than mere partisanship, and so have assured that the business of the nation should go forward. So, my official relationship with the Congress ends in a feeling — on my part — of gratitude that we have been able to do so much together.
We now stand ten years past the midpoint of a century that has witnessed four major wars among great nations. Three of these involved our own country. Despite these holocausts, America is today the strongest, the most influential, and most productive nation in the world. Understandably proud of this pre-eminence, we yet realize that America’s leadership and prestige depend, not merely upon our unmatched material progress, riches, and military strength, but on how we use our power in the interests of world peace and human betterment.
Throughout America’s adventure in free government, our basic purposes have been to keep the peace, to foster progress in human achievement, and to enhance liberty, dignity, and integrity among peoples and among nations. To strive for less would be unworthy of a free and religious people. Any failure traceable to arrogance, or our lack of comprehension, or readiness to sacrifice would inflict upon us grievous hurt, both at home and abroad.
Progress toward these noble goals is persistently threatened by the conflict now engulfing the world. It commands our whole attention, absorbs our very beings. We face a hostile ideology global in scope, atheistic in character, ruthless in purpose, and insiduous [insidious] in method. Unhappily, the danger it poses promises to be of indefinite duration. To meet it successfully, there is called for, not so much the emotional and transitory sacrifices of crisis, but rather those which enable us to carry forward steadily, surely, and without complaint the burdens of a prolonged and complex struggle with liberty the stake. Only thus shall we remain, despite every provocation, on our charted course toward permanent peace and human betterment.
Crises there will continue to be. In meeting them, whether foreign or domestic, great or small, there is a recurring temptation to feel that some spectacular and costly action could become the miraculous solution to all current difficulties. A huge increase in newer elements of our defenses; development of unrealistic programs to cure every ill in agriculture; a dramatic expansion in basic and applied research — these and many other possibilities, each possibly promising in itself, may be suggested as the only way to the road we wish to travel.
But each proposal must be weighed in the light of a broader consideration: the need to maintain balance in and among national programs, balance between the private and the public economy, balance between the cost and hoped for advantages, balance between the clearly necessary and the comfortably desirable, balance between our essential requirements as a nation and the duties imposed by the nation upon the individual, balance between actions of the moment and the national welfare of the future. Good judgment seeks balance and progress. Lack of it eventually finds imbalance and frustration. The record of many decades stands as proof that our people and their Government have, in the main, understood these truths and have responded to them well, in the face of threat and stress.
But threats, new in kind or degree, constantly arise. Of these, I mention two only.
A vital element in keeping the peace is our military establishment. Our arms must be mighty, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be tempted to risk his own destruction. Our military organization today bears little relation to that known of any of my predecessors in peacetime, or, indeed, by the fighting men of World War II or Korea.
Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense. We have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security alone more than the net income of all United States cooperations — corporations.
Now this conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every Statehouse, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet, we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources, and livelihood are all involved. So is the very structure of our society.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.
Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.
Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers. The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present — and is gravely to be regarded.
Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.
It is the task of statesmanship to mold, to balance, and to integrate these and other forces, new and old, within the principles of our democratic system — ever aiming toward the supreme goals of our free society.
Another factor in maintaining balance involves the element of time. As we peer into society’s future, we — you and I, and our government — must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering for our own ease and convenience the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow.
During the long lane of the history yet to be written, America knows that this world of ours, ever growing smaller, must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect. Such a confederation must be one of equals. The weakest must come to the conference table with the same confidence as do we, protected as we are by our moral, economic, and military strength. That table, though scarred by many fast frustrations — past frustrations, cannot be abandoned for the certaint agony of disarmament — of the battlefield.
Disarmament, with mutual honor and confidence, is a continuing imperative. Together we must learn how to compose differences, not with arms, but with intellect and decent purpose. Because this need is so sharp and apparent, I confess that I lay down my official responsibilities in this field with a definite sense of disappointment. As one who has witnessed the horror and the lingering sadness of war, as one who knows that another war could utterly destroy this civilization which has been so slowly and painfully built over thousands of years, I wish I could say tonight that a lasting peace is in sight.
Happily, I can say that war has been avoided. Steady progress toward our ultimate goal has been made. But so much remains to be done. As a private citizen, I shall never cease to do what little I can to help the world advance along that road.
So, in this, my last good night to you as your President, I thank you for the many opportunities you have given me for public service in war and in peace. I trust in that — in that — in that service you find some things worthy. As for the rest of it, I know you will find ways to improve performance in the future.
You and I, my fellow citizens, need to be strong in our faith that all nations, under God, will reach the goal of peace with justice. May we be ever unswerving in devotion to principle, confident but humble with power, diligent in pursuit of the Nations’ great goals.
To all the peoples of the world, I once more give expression to America’s prayerful and continuing aspiration: We pray that peoples of all faiths, all races, all nations, may have their great human needs satisfied; that those now denied opportunity shall come to enjoy it to the full; that all who yearn for freedom may experience its few spiritual blessings.
Those who have freedom will understand, also, its heavy responsibility; that all who are insensitive to the needs of others will learn charity; and that the sources — scourges of poverty, disease, and ignorance will be made [to] disappear from the earth; and that in the goodness of time, all peoples will come to live together in a peace guaranteed by the binding force of mutual respect and love.
Now, on Friday noon, I am to become a private citizen. I am proud to do so. I look forward to it.
Thank you, and good night.
President John F. Kennedy then took office, and less than three years later was murdered by the same cabal of vile scum who now own our country lock, stock and smoking gun barrel.
DON’T TREAD ON ME !
