The only thing that has seen a greater uptick in recent months than trumped up phony terrorist scares (the latest is the ludicrous story that Osama bin Laden himself has returned from the dead to claim responsbility for the undie bomber plot) is positive spin regarding our very special friends in Israel. Due to an onslaught of human rights abuses, outright war atrocities and the subsequent bullying and interference in U.S. media and politics that has finally resulted in some serious pushback as well as a loss of power of the now pathetic “anti-Semite” talisman used against critics the State of Israel and it’s accomplices in Der Heimat have undertaken a high stakes, high dollar mission to polish the turd of Israel’s reputation back to a fine sheen. Now I realize that I am going to catch holy hell for writing this, I always do when I utter the ultimate American blasphemy of trashing Jesus’s birthplace but that’s just the way it works with some people. The miserable little trolls, Megaphone monitors and knee jerk Zionist hard liners will of course dump a load in their knickers, squeal like kosher piggies and slap me with the dreaded “Jew Hater” pejorative but mercifully there will be no blogswarming – at least I don’t believe that there will be. So let’s get it on ok?

Beginning the second year of the Obama administration we still have not attacked Iran, this is a rare case where the Pope of Hope has actually done something right because it would most certainly ignite World War III. His loathsome administration has presided over the mother of all fuck ups that is the ridiculous farce of the healthcare ‘reform’ effort, a rare point of mutual hate towards that fucking giveaway to the insurance industry bloodsuckers by both the ‘left’ and the ‘right’ albeit for very different reasons. There is also the Wall Street bailout which ultimately played a large part in the ground shaking Massachusetts massacre of earlier this week when good ole Mr. Chappaquiddick’s supposedly secure Senate seat fell to the enemy. You can spin dimbulb Martha Coakley’s loss to Scott Brown in many ways (and it is dizzying to behold this right now) but a seething anger has gripped this land and what it comes down to, at least with liberals and progressives with any principles is Obama’s betrayals on multiple levels, the bank bailouts, the lies about fixing the trade pacts that have destroyed the American manufacturing base, not taking on the offshoring corporations that have decimated the workforce, the colossal health ‘reform’ disaster, the escalation of war in Afghanistan, the continuation of Bush’s police state policies, a failure to close Gitmo, the overreaction to the underwear bomber yada, yada, yada…there are too many knives in the back to count anymore.

What Obama HAS done right and this is a biggie is to not appease the monsters in Israel and their fifth column in Murka by giving the green light to more mass murder of women and children in the crusade for lebensraum. The fact that Obama has been less than totally deferential to the lunatic Bibi Netanyahu and his fellow blood drinking genocidal freaks is a very small rose growing out of an administration that is nothing more than a giant, fly covered dunghill. Not that Obama is actually doing anything to take any sort of a real principled stance towards that rogue state which would include economic sanctions as well as a total cutoff of ALL aid, a long needed public denouncement that would turn Israel into a pariah until there is a regime change where sane people are put in charge of their government and military, unleashing RICO against Israel’s U.S. propagandists, money launderers and their American accomplices who are acting as agents of a hostile foreign state and everything short of a preemptive strike on Tel Aviv….which at least in my own personal opinion would go one hell of a long ways towards a lasting peace in the Middle East.

One could argue that in addition to the filling of his administration with Wall Street crooks and former Clinton scum including the ruthless little pig-fucker Rahm Emanuel (his first hire and his Israeli minder) and his failure to cut out the cancer that is the Cheney stay behind network of embedded neocons that his stance towards Israel has been a contributor to his failures. From even before Obama took office there was a sleazy psyops campaign underway to demonize him as a secret Muslim (American translation: TERRORIST) and a potential Manchurian Candidate who was not even born in America. I am sure that pretty much everyone reading this can recall those filthy little Obsession DVDs that were sent out in millions of newspapers just prior to the election that were paid for by a mysterious Jewish charity group (a front group for domestic propaganda operations). The anti-Obama virulence that first emerged during Sarah Palin’s lynch mob rallies reeks of the same sort of black ops to goad one of the angry imbeciles into action ala the assassination of Yitzak Rabin has spilled over into today’s idiotic tea parties where racists, stone religious zealots and assorted other miscreants have found cover to wage their dirty secret war, given cover by Republican operatives herding gullible sheep. The Birthers, those crackpots who claimed that Obama was not born in America (John McCain really wasn’t for that matter but so go the double standards) were largely instigated by one Orly Taitz who has been exposed as another Israeli propagandist spreading dangerous lies to the same dolts who thanks to fellow travellers John Hagee and Tim LaHaye have been conned into blindly cheering Zionist criminals out of the insane belief that Jesus is coming back, not that the fuckers wouldn’t crufify him anew if he did but that’s beside the point.

But back to Obama, while the Pope of Hope has been exposed as just another rank opportunist his recalcitrance toward’s God’s chosen has put him at ground zero of a campaign of smears, lies, delegitimization and Christ only knows what sort of REAL assassination plots that are likely being set up in the bowels of the Mossad and the Pentagon at this very moment. While wanton greed, corruption, blackmail and elitism have played a huge part in Obama’s health care reform debacle one must also consider the ulterior motives of a certain Joseph McCarthy Lieberman who has been instrumental in the sabotage of any real reform. After all, it’s pretty well known that the slimy little prick’s loyalty lies elsewhere than the U.S. and his relationship with the insurance industry gargantuan Aetna provides him with perfect cover for the real work of taking down Obama so that the bloodthirsty Zionist war machine can get back to what it really does best – slaughtering babies. I would bet that right now that Lieberman is feeling like a veritable fucking Übermensch after his torpedoing of the already seriously fucked Obamacare and reeking of vengeance after watching the revisionist history fantasy flick Inglourious Basterds, which he reportedly had described as “cathartic’’, wants to hang some scalps on this wall. The escalating phony war on terror rhetoric culminating in today’s claim that the latest Osama bin Laden tape is out is designed to goad the berserkers who are already screaming for Muslims to be swept off of American streets and interned or deported to crank up the heat. Look for Obama to be quickly impeached when the Republicans riding on a tsunami of corporate cash and Zionist funnelled donations retake Congress from the pathetic, Vichy Democrats in November and for the official policy of the U.S. towards Israeli violence to return to something similar to what Dick Cheney and the neocons had back in the day when George W. Bush was still riding tall in the saddle and fear strangled the land.

The height of cynical opinion manipulation has to be the corpse fucking that is now going on in earthquake decimated Haiti where it has been practically screamed from the top of Mount Zion that Israeli doctors are working wonders in the rescue efforts. Another story in the multi-layered image makeover is that Israel has paid the hated U.N. for damage to it’s facilities during the Gaza killing spree. Brooks is always on call whenever the need arises to spin the dark intentions of the designated scammers, with his piece The Tel Aviv Cluster being his career effort he should just hang it up and head to the country club for the rest of his life, it is hard to believe that anything will ever top this one (the more audacious sections are bolded):

Most Jews gave up or were forced to give up farming in the Middle Ages; their descendants have been living off of their wits ever since. They have often migrated, with a migrant’s ambition and drive. Milton Friedman used to joke that Israel disproved every Jewish stereotype. People used to think Jews were good cooks, good economic managers and bad soldiers; Israel proved them wrong.

But that has changed. Benjamin Netanyahu’s economic reforms, the arrival of a million Russian immigrants and the stagnation of the peace process have produced a historic shift. The most resourceful Israelis are going into technology and commerce, not politics. This has had a desultory effect on the nation’s public life, but an invigorating one on its economy.

Tel Aviv has become one of the world’s foremost entrepreneurial hot spots. Israel has more high-tech start-ups per capita than any other nation on earth, by far. Israel, with seven million people, attracts as much venture capital as France and Germany combined.

As Dan Senor and Saul Singer write in “Start-Up Nation: The Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle,” Israel now has a classic innovation cluster, a place where tech obsessives work in close proximity and feed off each other’s ideas.

Because of the strength of the economy, Israel has weathered the global recession reasonably well. The government did not have to bail out its banks or set off an explosion in short-term spending. Instead, it used the crisis to solidify the economy’s long-term future by investing in research and development and infrastructure, raising some consumption taxes, promising to cut other taxes in the medium to long term. Analysts at Barclays write that Israel is “the strongest recovery story” in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Israel’s technological success is the fruition of the Zionist dream. The country was not founded so stray settlers could sit among thousands of angry Palestinians in Hebron. It was founded so Jews would have a safe place to come together and create things for the world.

This shift in the Israeli identity has long-term implications. Netanyahu preaches the optimistic view: that Israel will become the Hong Kong of the Middle East, with economic benefits spilling over into the Arab world. And, in fact, there are strands of evidence to support that view in places like the West Bank and Jordan.

But it’s more likely that Israel’s economic leap forward will widen the gap between it and its neighbors. All the countries in the region talk about encouraging innovation. Some oil-rich states spend billions trying to build science centers. But places like Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv are created by a confluence of cultural forces, not money. The surrounding nations do not have the tradition of free intellectual exchange and technical creativity.

For example, between 1980 and 2000, Egyptians registered 77 patents in the U.S. Saudis registered 171. Israelis registered 7,652.

The tech boom also creates a new vulnerability. As Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic has argued, these innovators are the most mobile people on earth. To destroy Israel’s economy, Iran doesn’t actually have to lob a nuclear weapon into the country. It just has to foment enough instability so the entrepreneurs decide they had better move to Palo Alto, where many of them already have contacts and homes. American Jews used to keep a foothold in Israel in case things got bad here. Now Israelis keep a foothold in the U.S.

During a decade of grim foreboding, Israel has become an astonishing success story, but also a highly mobile one.

Note the reference to a certain Dan Senor, not exactly a household name but one of the top flacks in the nation if not the world, it was Senor who was sent to Baghdad by Bush to handle damage control in the aftermath of the disastrous Abu Ghraib photos. Senor is also involved in the latest neocon snakepit of recycled treasonous scum like William Kristol, the Foreign Policy Iniative where they pimp the wars of Zionist supremacy and reap the rewards from the Military Industrial Complex, this latest successor to PNAC is going to have it’s scaly fingers in a lot of pies as they reconfigure the push for a U.S. attack on Iran, you can bet the farm on that one.

The thing that gets me about Brook’s little piece though is the blatant insinuations of Jewish supremacy, Brooks wasn’t kidding when he wrote that “Instead of research and commerce, Israelis were forced to devote their energies to fighting and politics” – whose politics do such claims of superiority belong to? Considering that arch neocon, Iran-Contra vet and extremely influential Israeli fifth columnist Elliot Abrams wrote in his book Faith or Fear that Jews should not enter into mixed marriages the politics would seem to have, dare I say, an Aryan influence.

But Israel has learned so much from the Nazis when it comes to racism, seige warfare, spying, torture, black propaganda and genocide that such views of racial purity and genetic superiority are no surprise at all. The only real surprise is that it is becoming so open which bodes of very dangerous times ahead.

Much to the delight of befuddled, fear-stricken Americans and the heinously sadistic neocons whose grotesque perversion ensured that along with that nifty little nickname The Homeland that the good ole USA would become a torture state it has been announced that there will be no enforcement of the law by the incoming Obama administration. The foul mouthed, weasel eyed little prick Rahm Emanuel slammed down his jackboot resoundingly on the Sunday morning bloviation circuit and decreed that there will be no prosecution of the war criminals from the Bush administration for their engaging in torture. Hell, the gangster Emanuel – a danger to America that must be reigned in – even flippantly compared this week’s release of the torture manuals as something was basically irrelevant and that the information could be found – and I shit you not…in the New York Review of Books. Here is a piece of the transcript from his ever smarmy former Clinton administration crony George Stephanopoulos’s show that shit eyes Emanuel appeared on Sunday morning:

EMANUEL: It’s kind of a — let me say this. One of the reasons the president was willing to let this information out was that already the information was out. So if they’re saying that you basically have exposed something, it’s been written. Go get the New York Review of Books. It’s there.

So the notion that somehow, we’re exposing something — it’s already been out. In fact, President Bush let — allowed — let it — allowed a lot of this information out. So the notion that somehow this all of a sudden is a game changer doesn’t take cognizance of the fact that it’s already in the system and in the public domain. Therefore, it’s not new. So the notion that that is something we’ve built in — it’s already been there.

Number two, it’s one of the key tools Al Qaida has used for recruitment. There has been a net cost to America. By changing the way America is seen in the world, which means banning this technique and practice, we have actually stopped them and prevented them from using it as a rallying cry.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Final quick question. The president has ruled out prosecutions for CIA officials who believed they were following the law. Does he believe that the officials who devised the policies should be immune from prosecution?

EMANUEL: What he believes is, look, as you saw in that statement he wrote, and I would just take a step back. He came up with this and he worked on this for about four weeks, wrote that statement Wednesday night, after he made his decision, and dictated what he wanted to see. And Thursday morning, I saw him in the office, he was still editing it.

He believes that people in good faith were operating with the guidance they were provided. They shouldn’t be prosecuted.

STEPHANOPOULOS: What about those who devised policy?

EMANUEL: Yes, but those who devised policy, he believes that they were — should not be prosecuted either, and that’s not the place that we go — as he said in that letter, and I would really recommend people look at the full statement — not the letter, the statement — in that second paragraph, “this is not a time for retribution.” It’s time for reflection. It’s not a time to use our energy and our time in looking back and any sense of anger and retribution.

While I have been early on the record with my criticism of the incoming Obama administration (Hell, it would be the utmost in hypocrisy in not holding him to the same standards I held Bush to although the sycophantic O-bots would disagree) for what at first appeared to be a backdoor Clinton restoration. The very early escalation of the war in Afghanistan was bad enough, the ongoing capitulation to Republican Nazis out of some insane fantasy of bipartisan ship was worse, then it took an even more outrageous turn when it became apparent that the Wall Street pigs would find their troughs full of taxpayer loot under Summers and Geithner and now has become something much more dark and sinister with the refusal to restore the law and punish the torturers. I can certainly understand that slimy little cocksucker Emanuel’s reluctance to adhere to international law, his dual citizenship certainly doesn’t compel him to act in any manner that would potentially draw attention to participation of Israeli intelligence in criminal acts conducted under the blanket of the bogus war on terror. A former IDF man and son of a militant Zionist terrorist couldn’t possibly be expected to set a precedent that may legitimize international outrage over Israeli war crimes including killing babies and any sort of Obama led attempt to restore a sense of morality could come back to bite a pack of war criminals in the ass.

Now I am obliged to also note that one of those who are guilty of war crimes – at least according to the Spanish court that had considered indictments of the Bush Six is one certain filthy little neocon rat named Douglas J. Feith, a member of the Richard Perle-Bibi Netanyahu report on carving out a nice chunk of Israeli Lebensraum (never mind the brutality and body count) that was entitled A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm as well as one of the little dark elves that toiled in Cheney and Rummy’s notorious propaganda chop shop the Office Of Special Plans that lied us into the Middle East wars of aggression. Feith’s daddy, Dalk was a member of the extremist Betar youth movement that was a precursor to the Likud. It is really quite impossible to take any sort of serious look at the American human rights abuses and war atrocities of the new American century without taking into account the longtime corrosive moral degradation that comes from being the handmaiden to the rogue Zionist realm of dark and bloody oppression.

This entire thing reeks of the same different set of standards regarding human rights atrocities that has so metastasized in recent years. And the big stinky kosher pig in the middle of the living room is Israel and the ongoing capitulation of yet another administration that at least in theory is supposed to be serving the American people but let’s face it, when annoiting Rahm Emanuel is the first act of Obama the fix is once again in. There will be a slow ratcheting up of pressure on B.O. to ‘see the light’ on the necessity of attacking Iran…it is coming. For example the Zionist propagandists are already calling Obama’s policies a threat to God’s chosen land see Haaretz story – MI Chief: Obama Mideast policy threatens Israel. Then there was yesterday’s ridiculous and obviously planned sideshow of envoys walking out of the U.N. anti-racism conference when the ‘New Hitler’ Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dared to call that racist genocidal shithole Israel a racist state that practices genocide. As Orwell once said, “in a time of universal deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act” and god knows we sure as shit can’t handle the truth in lemming land. A further note on the dog and pony stunt at the U.N. racism conference (the exalted champion of human rights and TORTURE that is the USA was crudely bullied into not attending by the usual vermin) is that the sainted Elie Wiesel was among the leaders and who came out and called for the jailing of Ahmadinejad. In all sympathy for Wiesel, a survivor of the Nazi horrors in the death camps the constant invocation of The Holocaust as blanket justification to out Nazi the fucking Nazis in murder, torture, terror and violence is bullshit and he knows it. Having been fleeced by Bernie Madoff it is sad to see the Nobel Peace Prize laureate having to stoop to such cheapjack publicity stunts, were it not so dangerous to world peace it would be pitful.

I certainly didn’t intend for this to be an anti-Israel rant but since I am on the topic I also would like to opine that America’s transformation into a police/torture state could never have occurred without that fascist goon colony as a blueprint. The intimidation and perception management apparatus that Israel has implemented here is something that is both wondrous to behold and monstrous at the same time. The war on terror used as a post 9/11 excuse to justify the transformation was greeted with glee by the real New Hitler Bibi Netanyu who openly stated that 9/11 was good for Israel. It has become common practice to use the Israeli model of the hyping of horror to justify even more horror and repression and with Rahm Emanuel as Batman to Obama’s Robin we haven’t seen anything yet. In an important sidenote regarding Israeli bribery, blackmail and espionage that will soon disappear down the memory hole. Jane Harman, the whore of AIPAC was caught by an NSA wiretap colluding to peddle influence in what should be a huge scandal the reaches into the very bowels of the Bush White House and the torture man himself Alberto Gonzales. The abysmal moral failure of Barack and the Obamanauts with their refusal to hold accountable those responsible for these acts of evil is astonishing, as we are all sitting here right now we are witnessing something far worse than Ford pardoning Nixon. After all, Nixon never signed off on torture and damned as he tried he was never able to get anywhere near the disembowelment of the Constitution that the Bush-Cheney Axis of Evil pulled off along with their legal eagles like Addington, Bybee and Yoo. As much of a shock that this may be to those who exalted in the scenes in Chicago’s Grant Park on that November 4th evening or in the historic festival of euphoria that was Washington D.C. on inauguration day we are now seeing our great champion of change putting his own seal of approval on some of the most disgusting acts of flagrant fascism in this country’s history. This is more than just turning a blind eye for the sake of unity, or as the propagandists push their Pollyanna version of public relations derived drivel of a grand and cleansing national rejuvenation of “looking forward’, this is the Barack Obama administation’s assumption of complicity in these horrors. Imagine the Nuremburg Trials only with the most insidious of Nazi mass murdering scum lectured, given suspended sentences and sent about their merry torturing way…but this is worse. As skidrow poet Charles Bukowski once wrote; “if you’re losing your soul and you know it, then you’ve still got a soul left to lose”, what does it say of the majority of Americans, especially the O-bots if they can’t muster any outrage over this? It makes them the moral equivalent of their counterparts who worshipped George W. Bush under the Fuhrerprincip that was the unitary executive theory that turned the presidency into a dictatorship after 9/11.

The torture memos just leave me breathless and sickened. It’s not like I didn’t know what was going on, I live in the real world and refuse to be spoonfed by the corporate media machine. The unbelievable brutality and the codifying of it into law makes me want to vomit, it makes me truly ashamed to be an American. The thing that I can’t get over though is the part about the bugs. The waterboarding of the phony 9/11 ‘terrorist’ attack mastermind 138 fucking times in one month is bad enough, the nakedness and the beatings too, the sadomasochistic perverts that are drawn to the authoritarian right like coffin flies to fresh shit is a given. I mean, what the fuck is up with the goddamned torture by insects? That is something so macabre that it is out of a Dr. Phibes flick and would be hard to believe if not for the history of MKULTRA and other diabolical torture and mind control programs underwritten by the American taxpayer. Sick motherfuckers these neocon bastards are, I mean if there is any justice (and that is a fantasy) then the likes of David Addington, John Yoo, Douggie Feith and that Federalist Society Nazi and now Federal Judge Jay Bybee then they would be made to endure a fitting punishment: death by scaphism. I can understand if this is too much for the squeamish but it is the least that these pricks deserve:

Scaphism, also known as the boats, was an ancient Persian method of execution designed to inflict torturous death. The name comes from the Greek word skaphe, meaning “scooped (or hollowed) out”.

The naked person was firmly fastened within a back-to-back pair of narrow rowing boats (or a hollowed-out tree trunk), with the head, hands, and feet protruding. The condemned was forced to ingest milk and honey to the point of developing severe diarrhea, and more honey would be rubbed on his body so as to attract insects to the exposed appendages. They would then be left to float on a stagnant pond or be exposed to the sun. The defenseless individual’s feces accumulated within the container, attracting more insects, which would eat and breed within his or her exposed and increasingly gangrenous flesh. The feeding would be repeated each day in some cases to prolong the torture, so that dehydration or starvation did not provide them with the release of death. Death, when it eventually occurred, was probably due to a combination of dehydration, starvation and septic shock. Delirium would typically set in after a few days.

In other recorded versions, the insects did not eat the person; biting and stinging insects such as wasps, which were attracted by honey on the body, acted as the torture.
Death by scaphism was painful, humiliating, and protracted. Plutarch writes in his biography of Artaxerxes that Mithridates, sentenced to die in this manner for killing Cyrus the Younger, survived 17 days before dying.

This system is being preserved because despite whatever the new frontman for the empire might say to the contrary it is imperative that the ability to torture remain as one of the most kick ass clubs in the bag. The economy is in freefall and despite what the spinners try to tell us the jobs are NEVER coming back, there is also a growing desperation and the agent provocateurs of the oligarchy are whipping the knuckle draggers up into a full blown murderous frenzy – another Nazi tactic adapted for the American Homeland. The establishment would like nothing more than some sort of violent response, perhaps a new Timothy McVeigh style strike that provide the justification for the lockdown of the police street control grid. Then the paramilitary thugs weaned on the exploits of Jack Bauer could truly go into action. The Stasi style surveillance system will ensure that when the time comes that the lists will be ready for those designated to do the pickups. While the filthy torturers have been allowed the ideological cover of cracking the skulls, busting the spleens and waterboarding only suspected ‘terrorists’ it will be very soon that people who are outspoken, patriotic Americans will become increasingly tempting targets for a state run amok. I have always maintained that the torture was being beta tested for the day that it will be turned on political dissidents and there is nothing on earth that will convince me otherwise.

When looking at today’s social and political trends it is fairly easy to extrapolate forward several years and when taking into consideration our new style fascist bent as well as the desire of theocrats to roll back the clock to the good old days of the Inquisition and along with an abundant supply of desperate, destitute, dumbed down, reality television addicted zombies and it could only be a matter of time until some cable televisioni network smash hit reality show will be American Torquemada where any influential government critic could become the featured guest. It would be a huge ratings pull for sweeps week.

America needs to scream now and scream loudly in unified righteous outrage in order to stop this decline into despotic barbarism. Silence only increases the chances that you will be screaming much louder if it is ever you who finds yourself strapped to the torture table.

Remember the USS Liberty

On June 8, 1967 the USS Liberty was attacked by Israel in international waters during the Six Day War while flying the American flag. This is the type of treatment that our so-called special relationship brings, Christ only knows that may happen now that President Obama has thrown down the gauntlet on the illegal settlements and dared to give a speech in Cairo on the necessity of the creation of a Palestinian state. The treacherous bought and paid for rats in Congress are already in the plotting stages of what will be a determined and blistering counterattack on Mr. Obama on behalf of his Israeli paymasters. The Iran attack clock is also ticking with elections a week away and the fake devil Ahmadinejad quite possibly on his way out, removing the excuse for a massive attack to ensure Israel’s nuclear superiority.

Now of course as is common procedure this blog was called out as anti-Semitic in the past week by a once mighty and still influential liberal blog that shall remain nameless (I dared to call the owner of the blog a cunt so of course that makes me a Jew hater in her eyes) because I dare to speak the unspeakable truths about or ‘allies’. USS Liberty Coverup

Early in the morning of Thursday June 8, 1967 the first rays of sun spilled softly over the Sinai’s blond waves of sand. A little more than a dozen miles north, in the choppy eastern Mediterranean, the USS Liberty headed eastward. But the calmness was like quicksand – deceptive, inviting and friendly – until it was too late.

As the Liberty passed the desert town of El Arish, it was being closely watched. About 4,000 feet above was an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft. At 6.05am, the observer on the plane reported back to Israeli naval headquarters: “What we could see were the letters written on that ship and we gave these letters to ground control,” he said. The letters were “GTR-5” – the Liberty’s identification. “GTR” stood for “General Technical Research” – a cover designation for the National Security Agency (NSA)’s fleet of spy ships.

The Liberty was in dangerous waters at a dangerous time. The six-day war, in which Israeli air and ground forces launched a massive attack on Egypt, Syria and Jordan, was raging. Fearing involvement in a Middle East war, the US joint chiefs of staff needed rapid intelligence on the ground situation in Egypt. Ships were considered the best option for the job. They could sail relatively close and pick up the most important signals. Also, unlike aircraft, they could remain on station for weeks at a time, eavesdropping, locating transmitters, and analysing the intelligence. And so the Liberty, which was large, fast and had been stationed relatively close on the Ivory Coast, had been ordered in.

Throughout the morning, the ship sailed on, with reconnaissance repeated at approximately 30-minute intervals. At one point, an Israeli air force Noratlas Nord 2501 circled the ship and headed back towards the Sinai. “It had a big Star of David on it and it was flying just a little bit above our mast,” recalled crew member Larry Weaver. “I was actually able to wave to the co-pilot. He waved back and actually smiled at me – I could see him that well. There’s no question about it. They had seen the ship’s markings and the American flag. They could damn near see my rank. The underway flag was definitely flying, especially when you’re that close to a war zone.”

By 9:50 am, the minaret at El Arish could be seen with the naked eye like a solitary mast in a sea of sand. Although no one on the ship knew it at the time, the Liberty had suddenly trespassed into a private horror. At that very moment, near the minaret, Israeli forces were engaged in a criminal slaughter.

Three days after Israel had launched the six- day war, Egyptian prisoners in the Sinai had become a nuisance. There was no place to house them, not enough Israelis to watch them, and few vehicles to transport them to prison camps. But there was another way to deal with them.

As the Liberty sat within eyeshot of El Arish, eavesdropping on surrounding communications, Israeli soldiers turned the town into a slaughterhouse, systematically butchering their prisoners. An eyewitness recounted how in the shadow of the El Arish mosque, they lined up about 60 unarmed Egyptian prisoners, hands tied behind their backs, and then opened fire with machine guns until the pale desert sand turned red.

This and other war crimes were just some of the secrets Israel had sought to conceal since the start of the conflict. An essential element in the Israeli battle plan seemed to have been to hide much of the war behind a carefully constructed curtain of lies: lies about the Egyptian threat, lies about who started the war, lies to the US president, lies to the UN Security Council, lies to the press, lies to the public. Thus, as the American naval historian Dr Richard K Smith noted, “any instrument which sought to penetrate this smoke screen so carefully thrown around the normal ‘fog of war’ would have to be frustrated”.

Into this sea of deception and slaughter sailed the USS Liberty, an enormous spy factory loaded with the latest eavesdropping gear.

About noon, as the Liberty was again in sight of El Arish, and while the massacres were taking place, an army commander there reported that a ship was shelling them from the sea. But that was impossible. The only ship in the vicinity was the Liberty, and she was eavesdropping, not shooting. As any observer would have recognised, the ship was a tired old Second World War vessel crawling with antennae, and unthreatening to anyone – unless it was their secrets, not their lives, they wanted to protect.

By then the Israeli navy and air force had conducted more than six hours of close surveillance of the Liberty off the Sinai and must have positively identified it as an American electronic spy ship. They knew she was the only military ship in the area. Nevertheless, the order was given to kill her and at 12:05pm, three motor torpedo boats from the port of Ashdod, about 50 miles away, departed. Israeli air force fighters, loaded with 50mm cannon ammunition, rockets and napalm, followed.

Without warning, the Israeli jets – swept-wing Dassault Mirage IIICs – struck. On board Liberty, Lieutenant Painter observed that the aircraft had “absolutely no markings”, their identity unclear. He then attempted to reach the men manning the gun mounts, but it was too late. “I was trying to contact these two kids,” he recalled, “and I saw them both; well, I didn’t exactly see them as such. They were blown apart, but I saw the whole area go up in smoke and scattered metal. At about the same time, the aircraft strafed the bridge area. The quarter-master, Petty Officer Third Class Pollard, was standing right next to me, and he was hit.”

The Mirages raked the ship from bow to stern with armour-piercing lead. A bomb exploded near the whaleboat aft of the bridge, and those in the pilothouse and the bridge were thrown from their feet. Commander William L McGonagle grabbed for the engine order annunciator and rang up all ahead flank.

In the communications spaces, radiomen James Halman and Joseph Ward had patched together enough equipment and broken antennae to get a distress call off to the Sixth Fleet, despite intense jamming by the Israelis. “Any station, this is Rockstar,” Halman shouted, using the Liberty’s voice call sign. “We are under attack by unidentified jet aircraft and require immediate assistance.”

“Great, wonderful, she’s burning, she’s burning,” said an Israeli pilot.

At 2:09 pm, the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga, operating near Crete, acknowledged Liberty’s cry for help. “I am standing by for further traffic,” it signalled.

After taking out the gun mounts, the Israeli fighter pilots turned their attention to the antennae so the ship could not call for help or pick up any more revealing interceptions. Then the planes attacked the bridge, killing instantly the ship’s executive officer. With the Liberty now deaf, blind, and silenced, unable to call for help or move, the Israeli pilots proceeded to kill her. Designed to punch holes in the toughest tanks, their shells tore through the Liberty’s steel plating like hot nails through butter, exploding into jagged bits of shrapnel and butchering men deep in their living quarters.

As the slaughter continued, neither the Israelis nor the Liberty crew had any idea that witnesses were present high above. Until now, that is. According to information, interviews and documents obtained, for nearly 35 years the NSA has hidden the fact that one of its planes – a Navy EC-121 ferret – was overhead at the time of the incident, eavesdropping on what was going on below. The interceptions from that plane, which answer some of the key questions about the attack, are among the NSA’s deepest secrets.

The ferret had taken off from Athens for its regular patrol of the eastern Mediterranean, and at about the time that the air attack was getting underway, Navy Chief Petty Officer Marvin Nowicki heard one of the other Hebrew linguists on the plane excitedly trying to get his attention on the secure intercom. “Hey, chief,” he shouted, “I’ve got really odd activity on UHF. They mentioned an American flag. I don’t know what’s going on.” Nowicki asked the linguist for the frequency and “rolled up to it”. “Sure as the devil,” said Nowicki, “Israeli aircraft were completing an attack on some object. I alerted the evaluator, giving him sparse details, adding that we had no idea what was taking place.”

Deep down in Liberty, Terry McFarland, head encased in earphones, was vaguely aware of flickers of light coming through the bulkhead. He had no idea that they were armour-piercing tracer bullets slicing through the ship’s skin. Larry Weaver had run to his general quarters station but it was located on an old helicopter pad that left him exposed and vulnerable. He grabbed a dazed shipmate and pushed him into a safe corner. “I said, ‘Fred, stay here, you’ve just got to because he’s coming up the center’,” Weaver recalled. “I got in the fetal position,” he said, “and before I closed my eyes I looked up and I saw the American flag and that was the last thing I saw before I was hit. I closed my eyes, just waiting for hell’s horror to hit me. And I was hit by rocket and cannon fire that blew two and a half feet of my colon out and I received over 100 shrapnel wounds. It blew me up in the air about four and a half, five feet. And just blood everywhere.”

Stan White raced through the sick bay for the enclosed NSA spaces. “Torn and mutilated bodies were everywhere,” he said. “Horrible sight!”

As soon as the Mirages pulled away, they were replaced by Super Mystere fighters which raked the ship. A later analysis would show 821 separate hits on the hull and superstructure. Now, in addition to rocket, cannon, and machine-gun fire, the Mysteres attacked with 1,000lb bombs and napalm. Deafening explosions tore through the ship and the bridge disappeared in an orange-and-black ball. Lying wounded by shrapnel, his blood draining into his shoe, was Commander McGonagle. Seconds later the fighters were back. Flesh fused with iron as more strafing was followed by more rockets, followed by napalm.

As the last fighter departed, having emptied out its onboard armoury, turning the Liberty’s hull into a flaming mass of grey Swiss cheese, sailors lifted mutilated shipmates on to makeshift stretchers of pipe frame and chicken wire. Damage control crews pushed through passageways of suffocating smoke and blistering heat, and the chief petty officer’s lounge was converted into a macabre sea of blood-soaked mattresses and shattered bodies.

After landing back at Athens airport, Nowicki and the intercept crew were brought directly to the processing centre. “By the time we arrived at the USA-512J compound,” he said, “collateral reports were coming in to the station about the attack on the USS Liberty. The NSA civilians took our tapes and began transcribing. It was pretty clear that Israeli aircraft and motor torpedo boats attacked a ship in the east Med. Although the attackers never gave a name or a hull number, the ship was identified as flying an American flag. We logically concluded that the ship was the USS Liberty.”

At 2.50 pm (Liberty time), 50 minutes after the first shells tore into the ship and as the attack was still going on, the aircraft carrier USS America, cruising near Crete, was ordered to launch four armed A-4 Skyhawks. At the same time, the carrier USS Saratoga was also told to send four armed A-1 attack planes to defend the ship. “Sending aircraft to cover you,” the Sixth Fleet told the Liberty at 3:05pm (9:05am in Washington). “Surface units on the way.”

At that moment in Washington, President Johnson was at his desk, on the phone, alternately shouting at congressional leaders and coaxing them to support his position on several pieces of pending legislation. But four minutes later he was interrupted by Walt Rostow, national security adviser, on the other line. “The Liberty has been torpedoed in the Mediterranean,” Rostow told Johnson excitedly.

The NSA’s worst fears had come true. “After considerations of personnel safety,” said deputy director Tordella, “one of my immediate concerns, considering the depth of the water and the distance of the ship off shore, had to do with the classified materials on board.” Tordella got on the phone to the Joint Reconnaissance Center (JCS) and spoke to the deputy director, a Navy captain named Vineyard. “I expressed my concern that the written material be burned if at all possible, and that the electronic equipment be salvaged if that were possible,” he said.

But Tordella was not prepared for what he heard. According to NSA documents – classified top secret – he was told that some senior officials in Washington wanted above all to protect Israel from embarrassment. “Captain Vineyard had mentioned during this conversation,” wrote Tordella, “that consideration was then being given by some unnamed Washington authorities to sink[ing] the Liberty in order that newspaper men would be unable to photograph her and thus inflame public opinion against the Israelis. I made an impolite comment about the idea.” Almost immediately, Tordella wrote a memorandum for the record, describing the conversation, and then locked it away.

A cover story for the Liberty was then quickly devised. “She was a communications research ship that was diverted from her research assignment,” it said, “to provide improved communication-relay links with the several US embassies around the entire Mediterranean during the current troubles.”

On the Liberty, black smoke was still escaping through more than 800 holes in the hull, and the effort to hush up the incident had already begun. Within hours of the attack, which left 34 men dead and two-thirds of the rest of the crew wounded, Israel asked President Johnson to quietly bury the incident. “Embassy Tel Aviv,” said a highly secret, very limited distribution message to the state department, “urged de-emphasis on publicity since proximity of vessel to scene of conflict was fuel for Arab suspicions that the US was aiding Israel.” Shortly thereafter, a total news ban was ordered by the Pentagon. No one in the field was allowed to say anything about the attack. All information was to come only from a few senior Washington officials.

Later that morning, Johnson took the unusual step of ordering the JCS to recall its fighters while the Liberty still lay smouldering, sinking, fearful of another attack and with its decks covered with the dead, dying and wounded. On board the flagship of the Sixth Fleet, Rear Admiral Lawrence R Geis, who commanded the carrier force in the Mediterranean, was angry and puzzled at the recall and protested to the secretary of defense, Robert S. McNamara.

Geis was shocked by what he heard next. “President Lyndon Johnson came on with a comment that he didn’t care if the ship sunk, he would not embarrass his allies.” Geis told Lieutenant Commander David Lewis, head of the NSA group on the Liberty, about the comment but asked him to keep it secret until after Geis died. It was a promise that Lewis kept.

In the days following the attack, the Israeli government gave the US government a classified report that attempted to justify the claim that the attack was a mistake. On the basis of that same report, an Israeli court of inquiry completely exonerated the government and all those involved. No one was ever court-martialled, reduced in rank or even reprimanded. On the contrary, Israel chose instead to honor motor torpedo boat 203, which fired the deadly torpedo at the Liberty. The ship’s wheel and bell were placed on prominent display at the naval museum, among the maritime artifacts of which the Israeli navy was most proud.

Despite the overwhelming evidence that Israel had attacked the ship and killed the American servicemen deliberately, the Johnson administration and Congress covered up the entire incident. Johnson was planning to run for president the following year and needed the support of pro-Israel voters.

A mistake or mass murder? It was a question Congress never bothered to address in public hearings at the time. Among those who have long called for an in-depth congressional investigation is Admiral Thomas Moorer, who went on to become chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. “Congress to this day,” he said, “has failed to hold formal hearings for the record on the Liberty affair. This is unprecedented and a national disgrace.” Perhaps it is not too late.

If Mr. Bamford’s information is correct the USS Liberty was attacked in order to suppress what is another Nazi style (think Lidice) slaughter by the folks who burned babies in Gaza. Cowards, swine and vicious vermin whose bloodlust now has the world on the brink of apocalypse. Note that none other than Hillary Rodham Clinton, the U.S. Secretary of State and the top snake in the Obama tent has now come out and announced on national television that Iran is subject to an American led Iraq style first strike.

So much for peace in our time, scramble the IAF, there are babies to be burned, territory to be conquered and a competing nuclear power to be taken down in one of those now acceptable preemptive actions that used to be considered acts of war. The madness of a country that exists largely through fear and exclusion and uses one of history’s all time crimes against humanity – The Holocaust as the justification to murder, conquer and wage wars of its own is only becoming more pathological and the Rapture clock is ticking towards conflagration. Despite the lunacy that it would take to launch an attack on Iran (a preventative measure that is just more of the same malarkey) it is going to happen, the extremist government in Tel Aviv is hell bent on going to the mattresses fully confident that the Samson Option is their ace in the hole.

There is an uptick in tensions with those who run God’s chosen land these days (not to unfairly mock decent people but any claims that God is responsible or intends anything are preposterous and un-provable, nice con game and it works too) and those who were optimistic that global thermonuclear warfare could be averted are seeing those hopes stomped on by a jackboot. Wearing that jackboot is Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, whose extremist allies plan to sponsor legislation requiring residents to swear loyalty to the Jewish state, a move critics denounced as liable to hamper the rights of Arab citizens. Also there is a flurry of measures in the pipes to further eliminate free speech such as mandatory jail terms for statements deemed to be “disloyal to the state”. Jane Harman must be having an orgasm over this one as well as the odious wandering Jew Joseph Lieberman, they after all had been pushing for committees that would slander, criminalize and crack down on what is deemed to be homegrown terrorism but is really a transparent attempt to squash critics of Israel here in the Heimat.

Seems like it won’t be much longer until the color coded sew on stars are passed out to be worn for identification purposes. Looks like Israel in the very early days of the Netanyahu-Lieberman regime is back to ginning up the case for war, flagrantly giving the finger to the civilized world and dragging America further into the morass. Of course our resurgent neocons, Gingrich, Cheney and the roiling spring of fascist filth that is known as the American Enterprise Institute (where the Israel Lobby meets the Military Industrial Complex) are wetting their panties over the kick starting of their own plots for world domination. Israel, while criminalizing any dissent over questioning the existence of the racist, exclusionary Jewish state is alarmingly reminiscent of the horrifying days of nose-measuring, purging the universities, and ensuring that Aryans would be given first class citizenship while the Juden were slowly driven into despair, humiliation and persecution. Kristallnacht was the direct result of a state sponsored campaign of ethnic cleansing, demonization and subjugation. Any sane Arab should trying to get the fuck out of Israel right now before the pickup vans are sent out. This one especially stinks: Secret document: Venezuela, Bolivia supplying Iran with Uranium. The flow of secret documents to justify another genocide never ceases to amaze me, it was this same type of hogwash that has the U.S. mired in two unwinnable foreign wars and the economy in ruins. The bastards are persistent though, and far too predictable. Now with the fascist Republican party engaging in vintage red baiting to dupe their idiot base into thinking that Barack Obama, the servant of Wall Street financial oligarchs is a commie this one meshes in real nice with the story line that they are slowly constructing.

The Canadian health care system is assailed and slimed on a daily basis as inefficient, primative, fuck off and die socialism that is just plain goddamned un-American and now horror of horrors, that evil little socialist man Hugo Chavez is being linked to plot supplying Iran with the crucial ingredients for nukes – it’s a plot against the Jews and it must be stopped because Jesus must be avenged. This is propaganda at its finest as the tie to the hated Chavez will surely fire up the knuckledragging lumpen Republicans who are already on high alert for the Red Dawn style communist takeover of America that has them armed to the teeth and determined to repel the red menace. So the heat is slowly being cranked up on Barack Obama, he is the proverbial frog in the pot on the stove and unless he grows a set of balls and backs down Bibi and Avigdor-preferably by cutting off ALL U.S. military aid but I would personally prefer a full out invasion of God’s chosen land in order to gain control of their nuclear arsenal – then he is soon going to find himself rendered into soup. He has already been rolled by the Wall Street moneychangers, shanked in the back by the quislings in his own party over closing down the institutionalized embarrassment of the torture state Gitmo and is about to face an Alamo style last stand by dug in hard core fascist Republicans over his Supreme Court nominee. In short, it ain’t looking good for the pope of hope, change is just another empty promise like ‘this won’t hurt a bit’, ‘the check’s in the mail’ and I promise not to come in your mouth. He has already shown weakness by refusing to investigate the war criminals of the Bushreich and the knives are going to be coming out very soon. Hell, given the prominence of the treasonous Dick Cheney on the corporate spin cycle there is very likely a false flag event in the works that will make 9/11 look like chump change and allow the dead enders who get their marching orders from the porcine propagandist Limbaugh to take to the streets for a shootin’ war against the Obama administration that failed to protect America. Some will call it conspiracy theory but that is the way the bastards think so take the tin foil hat, shit in it and wear it like a crown of shame atop your empty gourds.

 

Weasels Ripped My Flesh: In America, any honest attempt to question Israeli policy is met with a vicious and highly coordinated onslaught by the agents of various elements of the Israel Lobby. A very tightly managed network of media polemicists, Christian Zionist organizations and militant Jewish activists attack in waves, people are threatened, slandered as anti-Semites, smeared in the media, subjected to pressure on their employers by activists and boycotts and careers are ruined. This has been an immensely successful plan in that the political discourse in the United States is controlled to an extent where criticism of Israel is not tolerated and any sort of neutral, objective look at Middle Eastern geopolitical issues (especially in regards to the Palestinians) is rare if nonexistent. In fact the political discourse and the media at large are far more tightly controlled here than they are in Israel itself where there is robust discussion of the issues although the extreme right has (for the moment) seized control of the political system. No better examples exist of the sort of vicious attacks perpetrated by the slime and destroy machine than those on former president Jimmy Carter (arguably the best friend that Israel ever had) and ambassador Charles Freeman. Obama is already in the crosshairs lest he do their bidding.

Now I realize that I am going to catch holy hell for writing this, that’s just the way it works with some people and lord knows I have had my share of detractors, for that matter so does anyone who openly questions Israeli Lebensraum, it just goes with the territory . Simply put I am an American taxpayer, a military veteran and an outraged citizen who has a serious issue with my tax dollars being funneled by my government to a genocidal rogue state that is the biggest menace to global stability on the planet at this time. There may be weeping and gnashing of the teeth over the North Korean nuclear test but the real threat, so sayeth the media propaganda, the Israel Lobby war-freaks and the neo-Nazi thugs at the American Enterprise Institute is Iran…Iran…Iran..IRAN!!! The drumbeat has been incessant and it’s getting louder, it was nothing short of miraculous that Cheney and the balls to the wall neocons weren’t actually allowed to start WW III under the George W. Bush administration. They tried like hell but were headed off at the pass every time. Now Cheney is liberated and like a cornered skunk will spray the room with his foulness and his dug in network of pro-Israel/Christian Zionist moles at the Pentagon.

The failure to cut off the head of the snake by the feckless, perpetually neutered Pelosi-Reid Congress is only going to go down in history as the biggest capitulation since Neville Chamberlain did everything but blow Hitler in Munich. I have seen some pretty ugly stuff by these people by Israel’s cyber soldiers including a vicious smear campaign linking what was at one time a prominent liberal blog to the sewer that is Stormfront and then posting it over at the great orange Satan’s blog, the Daily Kos. I have seen blogswarming of a coordinated nature with the dialogue (if you can call it that) being so shrill that a patriotic military veteran and prominent blogger was called out as a Turner Diaries reading agent of Z.O.G. for alluding to the cabal of neocons who played a large part in instigating and then delivering the illegal attack on Iraq. Now this is pretty fucking common knowledge and being that it was easy for the arch evildoers Rummy and Cheney to play their simpering idiot puppet president off against his old man for failing to take out Saddam it was a perfect launching pad for the conquest of the Middle East according to the PNAC playbook. Of course slime and destroy is what traditionally works best for the enforcement arm of the Israeli public relations colossus, I am pretty much certain that I will be called out as the equivalent of one who ran the gas showers at Dachau and studies the Protocols of the Elders of Zion as the Jesus juicin’ redneck Republican base do their tomes of Timothy LaHaye Left Behind trash.

The sort of slanderous slime practiced by the Israel Lobby brownshirts is intolerable and with the accompanying hypocrisy it is unconscionable at best and diminishes real anti-Semitism at best. Note that Zionism is a political movement that uses Judaism as a cover, much like the reactionary fascism practiced here in the Homeland by the more virulent elements of the fundamentalist ‘Christian’ right or the violent murdering thugs who hijack Islam to wage their ruthless attacks on innocents or any religious extremists for that matter. The use of religion as justification is a tactic as old as humanity itself and it works just as effectively in modern times as it did thousands of years ago. As long as people are willing to cast aside logic and reason for superstition and silliness and lifelong slavery to an invisible man in the sky that exhibits psychopathic tendencies and has a thirst for blood equal to the earthly rulers of rogue states there will be no end to the violence, nor the wars, nor the slavery that have been the bane of humanity since man in whatever early form that he originated as crawled out of the primordial swamps or was left here as a seed by intelligent alien life forms who seeing what their science project has turned into are wisely staying the fuck away from us all.

The Coming Storm: The actions of Avigdor Lieberman and Bibi Netanyahu are exactly what are going to start World War III when they finally do launch their long awaited attack on Iran. Netanyahu is a calculating swine who like a cobra will not strike until he is certain that he has the necessary political cover for the box of hell that will be opened. Lieberman on the other hand is nothing sort of a full blown lunatic with Hitlerian megalomania, virulent racism, an eliminationist world view and an itchy trigger finger. He is also a drooling extremist right wing fanatic who would not hesitate one second to launch a parliamentary coup against Bibi if the conditions are right and circumstances merit it, a kosher version of Tom DeLay.

To the credit of some influential U.S. Jews there is finally some well deserved pushback against the derangement of the Israeli extremist right, in particular Adolf Lieberman. The Nazification of Israeli society is just a bridge too far, even for Abe Foxman. Also there is a rising but still nascent analysis of right-wing Israeli policies and their caustic effect on U.S. national interests and security. Newsweek actually has a pretty fair piece on Iran that catapults much of the propaganda, shit what do they have to lose? The magazine is going down in flames already and has just done the unthinkable and dumped the standard celebrity coverage and tabloid cheese in favor of actual intellectual stories. This week’s edition has a cover featuring the face of the fake devil Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the caption: Everything You Think You Know About Iran Is Wrong. The piece goes on to open a large portion of the issue that not only gives a more balanced view of Iran than has been seen in quite some time here in the 36th most free media of all of those ranked by Reporters Without Borders (actually it is a six way tie but hey, we still rank well ahead of the twinkle in the eye of authoritarian capitalists – China) in their 2008 ratings.

The Newsweek piece by the establishment’s own Fareed Zakaria dares to make the heretical statement that “They May Not Want the Bomb” and there is an accompanying photo essay that GASP – paints Iranians as actual human beings. There is also analysis or leading Iranian political figures and interviews with reform minded leader Mohammad Khatami who states the obvious that “the country can be run better” and IAEA head Mohamad El Baradei whose blasphemy is to say that “they are not fanatics”. Damn, this cuts across every piece of the folderol that we proud and shiny Americans are led to believe, that we are under the threat of nuclear or biological attack by the berserker Iranians. As far as the real fanatics are mentioned, an intimate of Bibi Netanyahu is quoted as follows:

“Think Amalek.” The bible says that the Amalekites were dedicated enemies of the Jewish people. In 1 Samuel 15, God says, “Go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass”.

And yet this insane babbling (which incedentally makes Adolf Hitler look like a moderate) is not given any press – other than this gutsy Newsweek feature. All the while, Mr. Ahmadinejad is quouted out of context, mistranslated, painted up like the fake devil and pilloried so that the new crusades can have ideological cover. Shit, relations have been bad with Iran but what can be expected when the CIA overthrows their elected leader, Mohammad Mossaddeq in 1953 and installs the torture happy and corrupt Shah as well as his fingernail pulling SAVAK secret police. This of course led to the seizing of the embassy and the rise of the Ayatollah Khomeini and his Islamic revolution. It’s a long and complex story and better saved for another time, all that I can say is that American Imperialist ventures in the region are a long, bloody and dirty volume of trickery filled with dual alliances, double crosses and even some Israeli compicity in selling arms to the Iranians (some of which may have been used to blow up the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut back in 83), it is a stew of the most vile ingredients but it would take far more time than I have to even begin to scratch the surface and do it justice.

The Newsweek feature also talks of next month’s Iranian Presidential elections where it is entirely possible that Ahmadenijad will be toppled legitimately….not that it makes a tin shit’s worth of difference to Lieberman and his Luftwaffe. This is going to cause a massive retaliatory strike from dug in right wing Israeli propagandists and war crazed neocons at their own organs, Weekly Standard, Commentary and the like. God forbid that Americans are given any nuance or context, they may just one day wake up and renounce the warfare state and demand some actual courage and representation from their whore politicians and polluted institutions. Of course this is unlikely but it wasn’t that long ago when the same magazine would have the same dour face of Ahmadinejad only with the screeching title of SATAN. The Iranian president of course has been a longtime whipping boy for the neocons and the Likudniks, it started right off the bat with the idiotic claims that he was one of the embassy hostage takers and only became more absurd when his statements were taken out of context and intentionally mis-translated to state that he planned to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Total bullshit, but all too necessary in the big lie that he is the next Hitler and that the shoot from the hip neocons could strut around like little Churchills, a favorite idol of theirs.

Nobody pimped the propaganda of the “new Hitler”as hard as Bibi did, he was like a used car salesman two months behind on his unaffordable mortgage a day before the final sales numbers went up on the board. It was shameless, and of course it was all a lie. Bibi of course had his share of help spoon feeding this drivel to the American lemmings courtesy of a dishonest media which really does have a very pro-Israel bias in reporting anything from the Middle East. The Zionist influence over the domestic media is a very real thing and while it is easy to conflate any who bring this inconvenient little truth up with rabid white supremacists and neo Nazis to smear them. But trust me it’s there, just take some time and read Mearshimer and Walt’s amazing expose – The Israel Lobby.

It is imperative to our survival that the vicious right-wing zealots in Israel and their accomplices in the U.S. extablishment, the pocket media and the bought and paid for Congress not be allowed to escalate. The real loyalty oaths in my opinion should be administered here where the long and short term interests of America are routinely jeopardized to facilitate the monstrous crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Israeli rogue state. The time to stop this is now before the psycopathic Avigdor Lieberman is able to further consolidate his power, crush resistance by Jewish moderates and set the world aflame all for his own apocalyptic glory.

Much to the delight of befuddled, fear-stricken Americans and the heinously sadistic neocons whose grotesque perversion ensured that along with that nifty little nickname The Homeland that the good ole USA would become a torture state it has been announced that there will be no enforcement of the law by the incoming Obama administration. The foul mouthed, weasel eyed little prick Rahm Emanuel slammed down his jackboot resoundingly on the Sunday morning bloviation circuit and decreed that there will be no prosecution of the war criminals from the Bush administration for their engaging in torture. Hell, the gangster Emanuel – a danger to America that must be reigned in – even flippantly compared this week’s release of the torture manuals as something was basically irrelevant and that the information could be found – and I shit you not…in the New York Review of Books. Here is a piece of the transcript from his ever smarmy former Clinton administration crony George Stephanopoulos’s show that shit eyes Emanuel appeared on Sunday morning:

EMANUEL: It’s kind of a — let me say this. One of the reasons the president was willing to let this information out was that already the information was out. So if they’re saying that you basically have exposed something, it’s been written. Go get the New York Review of Books. It’s there.

So the notion that somehow, we’re exposing something — it’s already been out. In fact, President Bush let — allowed — let it — allowed a lot of this information out. So the notion that somehow this all of a sudden is a game changer doesn’t take cognizance of the fact that it’s already in the system and in the public domain. Therefore, it’s not new. So the notion that that is something we’ve built in — it’s already been there.

Number two, it’s one of the key tools Al Qaida has used for recruitment. There has been a net cost to America. By changing the way America is seen in the world, which means banning this technique and practice, we have actually stopped them and prevented them from using it as a rallying cry.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Final quick question. The president has ruled out prosecutions for CIA officials who believed they were following the law. Does he believe that the officials who devised the policies should be immune from prosecution?

EMANUEL: What he believes is, look, as you saw in that statement he wrote, and I would just take a step back. He came up with this and he worked on this for about four weeks, wrote that statement Wednesday night, after he made his decision, and dictated what he wanted to see. And Thursday morning, I saw him in the office, he was still editing it.

He believes that people in good faith were operating with the guidance they were provided. They shouldn’t be prosecuted.

STEPHANOPOULOS: What about those who devised policy?

EMANUEL: Yes, but those who devised policy, he believes that they were — should not be prosecuted either, and that’s not the place that we go — as he said in that letter, and I would really recommend people look at the full statement — not the letter, the statement — in that second paragraph, “this is not a time for retribution.” It’s time for reflection. It’s not a time to use our energy and our time in looking back and any sense of anger and retribution.

While I have been early on the record with my criticism of the incoming Obama administration (Hell, it would be the utmost in hypocrisy in not holding him to the same standards I held Bush to although the sycophantic O-bots would disagree) for what at first appeared to be a backdoor Clinton restoration. The very early escalation of the war in Afghanistan was bad enough, the ongoing capitulation to Republican Nazis out of some insane fantasy of bipartisan ship was worse, then it took an even more outrageous turn when it became apparent that the Wall Street pigs would find their troughs full of taxpayer loot under Summers and Geithner and now has become something much more dark and sinister with the refusal to restore the law and punish the torturers. I can certainly understand that slimy little cocksucker Emanuel’s reluctance to adhere to international law, his dual citizenship certainly doesn’t compel him to act in any manner that would potentially draw attention to participation of Israeli intelligence in criminal acts conducted under the blanket of the bogus war on terror. A former IDF man and son of a militant Zionist terrorist couldn’t possibly be expected to set a precedent that may legitimize international outrage over Israeli war crimes including killing babies and any sort of Obama led attempt to restore a sense of morality could come back to bite a pack of war criminals in the ass.

Now I am obliged to also note that one of those who are guilty of war crimes – at least according to the Spanish court that had considered indictments of the Bush Six is one certain filthy little neocon rat named Douglas J. Feith, a member of the Richard Perle-Bibi Netanyahu report on carving out a nice chunk of Israeli Lebensraum (never mind the brutality and body count) that was entitled A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm as well as one of the little dark elves that toiled in Cheney and Rummy’s notorious propaganda chop shop the Office Of Special Plans that lied us into the Middle East wars of aggression. Feith’s daddy, Dalk was a member of the extremist Betar youth movement that was a precursor to the Likud. It is really quite impossible to take any sort of serious look at the American human rights abuses and war atrocities of the new American century without taking into account the longtime corrosive moral degradation that comes from being the handmaiden to the rogue Zionist realm of dark and bloody oppression.

This entire thing reeks of the same different set of standards regarding human rights atrocities that has so metastasized in recent years. And the big stinky kosher pig in the middle of the living room is Israel and the ongoing capitulation of yet another administration that at least in theory is supposed to be serving the American people but let’s face it, when annoiting Rahm Emanuel is the first act of Obama the fix is once again in. There will be a slow ratcheting up of pressure on B.O. to ‘see the light’ on the necessity of attacking Iran…it is coming. For example the Zionist propagandists are already calling Obama’s policies a threat to God’s chosen land see Haaretz story – MI Chief: Obama Mideast policy threatens Israel. Then there was yesterday’s ridiculous and obviously planned sideshow of envoys walking out of the U.N. anti-racism conference when the ‘New Hitler’ Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dared to call that racist genocidal shithole Israel a racist state that practices genocide. As Orwell once said, “in a time of universal deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act” and god knows we sure as shit can’t handle the truth in lemming land. A further note on the dog and pony stunt at the U.N. racism conference (the exalted champion of human rights and TORTURE that is the USA was crudely bullied into not attending by the usual vermin) is that the sainted Elie Wiesel was among the leaders and who came out and called for the jailing of Ahmadinejad. In all sympathy for Wiesel, a survivor of the Nazi horrors in the death camps the constant invocation of The Holocaust as blanket justification to out Nazi the fucking Nazis in murder, torture, terror and violence is bullshit and he knows it. Having been fleeced by Bernie Madoff it is sad to see the Nobel Peace Prize laureate having to stoop to such cheapjack publicity stunts, were it not so dangerous to world peace it would be pitful.

I certainly didn’t intend for this to be an anti-Israel rant but since I am on the topic I also would like to opine that America’s transformation into a police/torture state could never have occurred without that fascist goon colony as a blueprint. The intimidation and perception management apparatus that Israel has implemented here is something that is both wondrous to behold and monstrous at the same time. The war on terror used as a post 9/11 excuse to justify the transformation was greeted with glee by the real New Hitler Bibi Netanyu who openly stated that 9/11 was good for Israel. It has become common practice to use the Israeli model of the hyping of horror to justify even more horror and repression and with Rahm Emanuel as Batman to Obama’s Robin we haven’t seen anything yet. The abysmal moral failure of Barack and the Obamanauts with their refusal to hold accountable those responsible for these acts of evil is astonishing, as we are all sitting here right now we are witnessing something far worse than Ford pardoning Nixon. After all, Nixon never signed off on torture and damned as he tried he was never able to get anywhere near the disembowelment of the Constitution that the Bush-Cheney Axis of Evil pulled off along with their legal eagles like Addington, Bybee and Yoo. As much of a shock that this may be to those who exalted in the scenes in Chicago’s Grant Park on that November 4th evening or in the historic festival of euphoria that was Washington D.C. on inauguration day we are now seeing our great champion of change putting his own seal of approval on some of the most disgusting acts of flagrant fascism in this country’s history. This is more than just turning a blind eye for the sake of unity, or as the propagandists push their Pollyanna version of public relations derived drivel of a grand and cleansing national rejuvenation of “looking forward’, this is the Barack Obama administation’s assumption of complicity in these horrors. Imagine the Nuremburg Trials only with the most insidious of Nazi mass murdering scum lectured, given suspended sentences and sent about their merry torturing way…but this is worse. As skidrow poet Charles Bukowski once wrote; “if you’re losing your soul and you know it, then you’ve still got a soul left to lose”, what does it say of the majority of Americans, especially the O-bots if they can’t muster any outrage over this? It makes them the moral equivalent of their counterparts who worshipped George W. Bush under the Fuhrerprincip that was the unitary executive theory that turned the presidency into a dictatorship after 9/11.

A Brief Interlude: In Jack’s Country

The torture memos just leave me breathless and sickened. It’s not like I didn’t know what was going on, I live in the real world and refuse to be spoonfed by the corporate media machine. The unbelievable brutality and the codifying of it into law makes me want to vomit, it makes me truly ashamed to be an American. The thing that I can’t get over though is the part about the bugs. The waterboarding of the phony 9/11 ‘terrorist’ attack mastermind 138 fucking times in one month is bad enough, the nakedness and the beatings too, the sadomasochistic perverts that are drawn to the authoritarian right like coffin flies to fresh shit is a given. I mean, what the fuck is up with the goddamned torture by insects? That is something so macabre that it is out of a Dr. Phibes flick and would be hard to believe if not for the history of MKULTRA and other diabolical torture and mind control programs underwritten by the American taxpayer. Sick motherfuckers these neocon bastards are, I mean if there is any justice (and that is a fantasy) then the likes of David Addington, John Yoo, Douggie Feith and that Federalist Society Nazi and now Federal Judge Jay Bybee then they would be made to endure a fitting punishment: death by scaphism. I can understand if this is too much for the squeamish but it is the least that these pricks deserve:

Scaphism, also known as the boats, was an ancient Persian method of execution designed to inflict torturous death. The name comes from the Greek word skaphe, meaning “scooped (or hollowed) out”.

The naked person was firmly fastened within a back-to-back pair of narrow rowing boats (or a hollowed-out tree trunk), with the head, hands, and feet protruding. The condemned was forced to ingest milk and honey to the point of developing severe diarrhea, and more honey would be rubbed on his body so as to attract insects to the exposed appendages. They would then be left to float on a stagnant pond or be exposed to the sun. The defenseless individual’s feces accumulated within the container, attracting more insects, which would eat and breed within his or her exposed and increasingly gangrenous flesh. The feeding would be repeated each day in some cases to prolong the torture, so that dehydration or starvation did not provide them with the release of death. Death, when it eventually occurred, was probably due to a combination of dehydration, starvation and septic shock. Delirium would typically set in after a few days.

In other recorded versions, the insects did not eat the person; biting and stinging insects such as wasps, which were attracted by honey on the body, acted as the torture.
Death by scaphism was painful, humiliating, and protracted. Plutarch writes in his biography of Artaxerxes that Mithridates, sentenced to die in this manner for killing Cyrus the Younger, survived 17 days before dying.

This system is being preserved because despite whatever the new frontman for the empire might say to the contrary it is imperative that the ability to torture remain as one of the most kick ass clubs in the bag. The economy is in freefall and despite what the spinners try to tell us the jobs are NEVER coming back, there is also a growing desperation and the agent provocateurs of the oligarchy are whipping the knuckle draggers up into a full blown murderous frenzy – another Nazi tactic adapted for the American Homeland. The establishment would like nothing more than some sort of violent response, perhaps a new Timothy McVeigh style strike that provide the justification for the lockdown of the police street control grid. Then the paramilitary thugs weaned on the exploits of Jack Bauer could truly go into action. The Stasi style surveillance system will ensure that when the time comes that the lists will be ready for those designated to do the pickups. While the filthy torturers have been allowed the ideological cover of cracking the skulls, busting the spleens and waterboarding only suspected ‘terrorists’ it will be very soon that people who are outspoken, patriotic Americans will become increasingly tempting targets for a state run amok. I have always maintained that the torture was being beta tested for the day that it will be turned on political dissidents and there is nothing on earth that will convince me otherwise.

When looking at today’s social and political trends it is fairly easy to extrapolate forward several years and when taking into consideration our new style fascist bent as well as the desire of theocrats to roll back the clock to the good old days of the Inquisition and along with an abundant supply of desperate, destitute, dumbed down, reality television addicted zombies and it could only be a matter of time until some cable televisioni network smash hit reality show will be American Torquemada where any influential government critic could become the featured guest. It would be a huge ratings pull for sweeps week.

If Mick Jagger and the boys had any balls left whatsoever they would have opened the garish free market capitalist travesty that was the Super Bowl XL halftime show with the roiling menace of their classic Gimme Shelter followed by Sympathy for the Devil and Street Fighting Man despite their pre-arranged set. Once the anal retentive fuck-sticks who run the heavily censored corporate media were able to scrape their jaws off of the control room floor would they have cut the power to the entire set? If a line like “you can make a dead man come” is too provocative for the childlike minds of the year’s biggest infomercial what would a triple barreled blast of pure sixties rebellion do? A nation obsessed with graphic details about fucking but adverse to any similar graphic details about dying ugly….especially when the dying occurs in an illegal foreign war of intervention that is far more complicated than the bunting draped patiotic horseshit that is now so ubiquitious at national sporting events and other hoohah that distracts the simple minded.

In Kurt Vonnegut’s classic novel Slaughterhouse Five he uses the books of a fictional science fiction writer named Kilgore Trout to insert social commentary into his overall story. One of ‘Trout’s’ tales addressed the strange contradictions of a society that will accept with open arms one who kills civilians with state sanction during wartime while ostracizing one for silly, superficial reasons:

The Gutless Wonder: This, too, was the title of a book by Trout, The Gutless Wonder. It was about a robot who had bad breath, who became popular after his halitosis was cured. But what made the story remarkable, since it was written in 1932, was that it predicted the widespread use of burning jellied gasoline on human beings. It was dropped on them from airplanes. Robots did the dropping. They had no conscience, and no circuits which would allow them to imagine what was happening to the people on the ground.Trout’s leading robot looked like a human being, and could talk and dance and so on, and go out with girls. And nobody held it against him that he dropped jellied gasoline on people. But they found his halitosis unforgivable. And then he cleared that up, and he was welcomed to the human race.

Vonnegut of course was present at Dresden on the night that allied bombers laid waste to the ‘Florence of the Elbe’, a historic city as well as a non-military target with little or no air defense system that was packed with refugees and prisoners and was targeted by bombers that incinerated over one hundred thousand civilians. Vonnegut spoke of seeing the boiled bodies of schoolgirls floating in a water tower through his character Billy Pilgrim and also of being forced to dig through the wreckage in the aftermath to find “corpse mines” and described the odor of the bodies:

“They didn’t smell bad at first…but then the bodies rotted and liquefied, and the stink was like roses and mustard gas”He also spoke of a character, another soldier who died of the dry heaves from having to go down into a corpse mine and being overcome by the stench:

“He tore himself to pieces, throwing up and throwing up”

Dresden doesn’t get much mention when it comes to our nation’s war history, neither does the decimation of the Japanese homeland by bombing of civilian areas nor the bombing of Viet Nam nor the brown skinned dead in any other foreign imperialist adventure undertaken by the politicians and their wealthy backers who cash in on the destroyed lives and flesh of those who become victims so that they may live opulent lives of carefree exploitation. I do want to make the statement that in doing so I am differentiating between ‘combatants’ and what is deemed to be acceptable ‘collateral damage’ to those dropping their bombs or launching their shells and missiles from far away lest they actually have to bear witness to the devastation. ‘Trout’s’ Gutless Wonder is a perfect metaphor for the apathetic and cruel philistines who allow for the murder of innocents to take place in their name as long as it doesn’t intrude upon their pathetic and selfish little lives.

I want to at this time take an opportunity to recognize it here for the sake of the memory of the dead and perhaps the hope of the living that we can one day finally recognize war for the profitable, industrialized slaughter that it is by listing a few accounts:

“The firestorm is incredible, there are calls for help and screams from somewhere but all around is one single inferno. To my left I suddenly see a woman. I can see her to this day and shall never forget it. She carries a bundle in her arms. It is a baby. She runs, she falls, and the child flies in an arc into the fire. “The elephants gave spine-chilling screams. The baby cow elephant was lying in the narrow barrier-moat on her back, her legs up in the sky. She had suffered severe stomach injuries and could not move. A 90 cwt. cow elephant had been flung clear across the barrier moat and the fence by some terrific blast wave, and stood there trembling. I had no choice but to leave these animals to their fate. I had known for one hour now that the most difficult task could ever bring was facing me. “Lehmann, we must get to the carnivores,” I called. We did what we had to do, but it broke my heart.” (Otto Sailer-Jackson: Dresden Zookeeper)


“We did not recognize our street any more. Fire, only fire wherever we looked. Our 4th floor did not exist anymore. The broken remains of our house were burning. On the streets there were burning vehicles and carts with refugees, people, horses, all of them screaming and shouting in fear of death. I saw hurt women, children, old people searching a way through ruins and flames. We fled into another cellar overcrowded with injured and distraught men women and children shouting, crying and praying. No light except some electric torches. And then suddenly the second raid began. This shelter was hit too, and so we fled through cellar after cellar. Many, so many, desperate people came in from the streets. lt is not possible to describe! Explosion after explosion. It was beyond belief, worse than the blackest nightmare. So many people were horribly burnt and injured. lt became more and more difficult to breathe. lt was dark and all of us tried to leave this cellar with inconceivable panic. Dead and dying people were trampled upon, luggage was left or snatched up out of our hands by rescuers. The basket with our twins covered with wet cloths was snatched up out of my mothers hands and we were pushed upstairs by the people behind us. We saw the burning street, the falling ruins and the terrible firestorm. My mother covered us with wet blankets and coats she found in a water tub”. (Lothar Metzger: Dresden Resident)


Among other things Vonnegut later wrote:

“You guys burnt the place down, turned it into a single column of flame. More people died there in the firestorm, in that one big flame, than died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined.”

And of course he is correct, the dropping of Fat Man and Little Boy and whether it was ultimately necessary against a broken enemy or was merely an opening gambit in the Cold War will be debated until the end of our days but the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki will always be interpreted by most as necessary steps to end a long, cruel and far too bloody war and to spare even more American casualites. I can even see the validity of this argument although I am not a convert but these were only two events, albeit massive in the systematic destruction and the breaking of the will of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Regarding the bombing of Japan an excellent resource would be Errol Morris’ fine film the Fog of War during which he interviews at length former Secretary of Defense and Viet Nam war architect Robert McNamara who was Rumsfeld before Rumsfield in his arrogance. The film while not depicting the slaughter on the ground offered a glimpse into the methodology of industrialized mass murder. General Curtis LeMay, McNamara’s superior and the commander of the Twenty-First Bomber Command that devastated the Japanese Home Islands in the late days of the war plays a prominent part. In the film McNamara explains his role in the incendiary attack by chillingly reducing it to the banality of number crunching as to the potential casualty tally. LeMay, who was savagely lampooned in Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove as General Jack D. Ripper who kicks off nuclear Armageddon is featured in actual film clips that are among the most interesting parts of the movie.

In a precursor to modern corporate number crunching the bombing run efficiency was maximized to the point where stripped B-29s were sent in flying so low that they literally reeked of burning flesh, a good and short although militaristic account on LeMay and the bombing has been written by Victor Davis Hanson and entitled The Right Man, this piece is featured in the World War II compilation called No End Save Victory, a pretty good book of essays that you could likely pick up cheap online. The ruthless efficiency of the incendiary bombings even had LeMay himself to comment that “I suppose if I had lost the war, I would have been tried as a war criminal”.

“On the nights of March 9 and 10 in 1945 Tokyo was subjected to an incredible incendiary bombardment that destroyed sixteen square miles of the city, boiling asphalt and cooking flesh. Although the true number will never be known it is estimated that nearly 100,000 were killed, most incinerated and most civilians including women and children and the helpless elderly. The fire consumed the city structures that were mainly built out of wood and the heat”, according to Nicholas Von Hoffman as published in Pat Buchanan’s Where The Right Went Wrong “boiled the water in lakes and ponds, cooking those who fled to safety there like human lobsters” But this is always the way that it is in war isn’t it? General LeMay was correct, the victors are never the war criminals and never the terrorists, the infamy as well as the true costs of agrression are not ultimately paid by the warmongers but suffered by the poor bastards who just happen to live under the rule of rogue governments or those that otherwise fall into disfavor with the most powerful of nations.

The graphic examples of civilian ‘collateral damage’ aren’t something that the public want to see or know about, they like their wars sanitized, neat, convenient, and morally clear along the lines of a John Wayne movie or other simplistic celluloid trash. Americans are mostly ignorant and express indifference at the true suffering of war and are generally the most mindless and unenlightened citizens of the world’s most dangerous of empires. We as a society gorge ourselves on violent fantasy on television, in movies and in video games reveling in every beheading, rape, dismemberment, shooting, knifing, incinerating and bludgeoning as long as we can remain safely detached and free from ever having to consider the actual consequences of violence. This is hypocrisy, a society so conditioned to accept the abominable as long as it is a part of the great American myth of righteousness and destiny glorifies death but when that death is real, nobody wants the gory details of what is perpetrated in our name. The exception being the near masturbatory glee that the mutilated and widely displayed corpses of Uday and Qusay Hussein elicited from a voyeuristic public addicted to sensationalistic cheap thrills. The bullet riddled bodies of the sons of Saddam were constantly and graphically displayed in order to feed the bloodlust necessary for rabid and continued support of the war against the Islamic savages.

The outrage over the images was made all the more conspicuous by it’s absence.

A while back, after the early afterglow of ‘Shock and Awe” had subsided and when the truth was slowly starting to seep out that “mission accomplished” was just another two word phrase along the lines of bull shit and cluster fuck I read a letter to the editor in my local newspaper that had dared to display the gruesome hanging of the charred corpses of four ‘contractors’ who were killed by a mob in the Iraqi city of Fallujah which would go on to be severely punished later. Some ridiculously dumb bitch had the audacity to write expressing her “outrage” that she actually had to explain this to her children. Americans love their wars as long as they don’t actually have to see what is being done in their names. As for the four ‘contractors’ I have no mercy and nothing but contempt for them, they were mercenaries, nothing but parasites that move from host to host preying on human misery for both the thrill and the money that comes with it but that alas is lost on those who shelter their spoiled children from all but electronic video violence. I doubt that she bothered to dash off a similar protestation over the bloody display of the war trophies that were the sons of Saddam.

What is lost in translation was the fact that the government was contracting mercenaries to do the wet work for the military. It is obvious that they were targeted for a reason, quite possibly the torture or murder of friends or family members of the rioters during one of the death squad raids that are now common in Iraq. I find the ongoing use of these ‘contractors’ to be repugnant and abhorrent, not only are they far more highly paid than the actual members of the military but they operate independent of any sort of congressional oversight and bear no accountability for their actions. I have no sympathy for bastards like that who are cruel violence junkies and arrogant psychopaths more into it for the thrill of the kill than the actual money. Just think of how great that a heroin addict would find it if he could be paid for riding the dragon. The assemblage and widespread use of private armies by the Pentagon is a very foreboding thing and may prove to have extremely grave consequences to us at home if their existence becomes acceptable to the general public and future domestic operations are commenced. Blackwater, one of the top mercenary firms was providing ‘contractors’ in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and no doubt these paramilitary goons already have contingency contracts lined up in the event of a ‘terrorist’ attack on the homeland.

I am not merely being callous over the violent fate of the ‘contractors’ , I just have far more sympathy for the innocent victims. Victims such as the Hassan family whose seventeen members were packed into a 1974 Land Rover in the early days of the invasion and were driving toward their dream of democracy and freedom from the evil savagery of Saddam. Instead of democracy, this family (the grandfather was dressed in his finest garment, a pin striped suit to look American for the celebratory occasion of their deliverance) was slaughtered in an unimaginably horrific manner by a nervous American soldier at a checkpoint who panicked and unloaded a barrage of military ordnance into the oncoming vehicle. Eleven members of the family were destroyed, not just killed but destroyed…as a veteran you can appreciate the power of military weaponry. Lamea, the pregnant wife of Bakhat Hassan survived the attack that turned the vehicle into an abattoir in which she described as follows:

“I saw the heads of my two little girls come off, my girls — I watched their heads come off their bodies. My son is dead.”

An army public relations officer stated that it was “A miscommunication with civilians” after which the surviving members of the family were offered monetary compensation for their loss. As Bob Dylan once sang “money doesn’t talk it swears” and the true obscenity in this tableau is that we as Americans are so ignorant of the culture of others and so empty in our very souls that anybody could possibly offer money as a remedy for this atrocity. Unfortunately things such as this don’t get much play in the American mainstream media, there is always a Michael Jackson, Laci Petersen, Tom and Katie, Bennifer or Kobe Bryant to exploit in order to save some pathetic cunt from having to explain the insanity and abhorrence that is a war being waged in her name to some pathetically spoiled child who is pampered and indulged on the now traditional journey to become a selfishly ignorant and obese adult in the land of plenty while the impoverished children of the third world are dying of starvation.

Fallujah would go on to perish for our sins, targeted for destruction by a series of brutal military operations to quell the insurgency and to avenge the deaths of the mercenaries and to wash the bitter taste of public humiliation from the mouths of war planners. In a series of sieges that reduced the city to rubble civilians as well as combatants were targeted, snipers targeted ambulances, access to the main hospital was blocked, hundreds of Iraqis were killed and the ‘collateral damage’ was significant. A foreign documentary entitled Fallujah: The Hidden Massacre was produced and showed that the U.S. military was using incendiary White Phosphorous in the assaults. The video is highly recommended although not for those without a strong stomach, the evidence is as brutal as the imagery of the burned bodies. Of course this would never be allowed to air in the homeland. The media downplays the truth that is the charnel house of Iraq, there is always a king’s crusade to glorify or a celebrity to worship or a lurid sex scandal to lasciviously salivate over. For real journalism and truths about the bloody quagmire we must utilize foreign sources, a sick joke in a land where a free and unimpeded press is supposed to act as a vital check against the tyranny of madmen. Dahr Jamail is essential reading for those who seek to stay informed as is Robert Fisk whose brutal honesty would serve as a slap across the face were any domestic sources permitted to carry his columns on a regular basis. Were the corporate media to have any balls or the majority of the public have any brains this is what they would be reading:

So we are going to support the myth. As the headless bodies are found along the Tigris, as the mortuaries fill up, as the American dead grow far beyond 1,700 – and, let us remember, the Iraqi dead go into the tens of thousands – Europe and the rest of the world still support the American project. The smell of the dead pours into the street through the air-conditioning ducts. Hot, sweet, overwhelming. Inside the Baghdad morgue, there are so many corpses that the fridges are overflowing. The dead are on the floor. Dozens of them. Outside, in the 46C (114F) heat, Qadum Ganawi tells me how his brother Hassan was murdered. “He was bringing supper home for our family in Palestine Street but he never reached our home. Then we got a phone call saying we could have him back if we paid $50,000 [£27,500]. We didn’t have $50,000. So we sold part of our home and many of our things and we borrowed $15,000 and we paid over the money to a man in a car who was wearing a keffiyeh scarf round his head. “Then we got another phone call, telling us that Hassan was at the Saidiyeh police station. He was. He was blindfolded and gagged and he had two bullets in his head. They had taken our money and then they had killed him.” There is a wail of grief from the yard behind us where 50 people are waiting in the shade of the Baghdad mortuary wall. There are wooden coffins in the street, stacked against the wall, lying on the pavement.

The American public has neither the time nor the stomach to trouble themselves with vagaries as this and the absence of the widespread syndication of Fisk’s work is a testament to a nation of selfish, apathetic, timorous fools who are far more concerned with halitosis than the stench of burning and rotting corpses that is so commonplace in the wars fought in their name. The atrocities of course take place in any war, war is a horrible thing, not something of valor and honor but an exercise in sorrow, death, destruction and the piles of stinking corpses and shattered lives that are left in the aftermath, such is as it always has been and always will be in the future. A public too accustomed to the sanitized death and violence of their false little worlds of television and video games and never forced to confront the real thing.

And So It Goes…

The military industrial complex has a vested interest in hiding this from the general population and of perpetuating the myths through propaganda. Hiding behind impugning the patriotism of others and invoking empty sloganeering such as ‘support the troops’ is not only of the lowest form of morality but of the highest form of cowardice and in the case of those who turn their magnetic ribbon stickers sideways to represent the Jesus fish, hypocrisy and apostasy. A large number of Americans ignorantly spout the jingoist phrase “nuke them all” when referring to non-Caucasian, non-Christian countries, specifically those in the middle east. This only reinforces their stupidity and lack of knowledge of the true horrors of war borne by those whose only crime was in happening to be citizens of a regime deemed to be an enemy of the American state and therefore subject to the full wrath of the arsenal of democracy, an arsenal that will always be restocked by the merchants of death that are the defense contractors.

Our cultural priorities have become so fucked up, corrupted and polluted that a glimpse of a woman’s nipple shown on national television dominates all media coverage and elicits outrage while the illicit occupation in Iraq with women and children being blown apart into bloody bits in the name of the never ending and all encompassing ‘war on terror’ does not make it into the national psyche who are more interested in getting their next hit of vicarious celebrity living off of the electronic crack pipe. Our idiot king has alienated us from the rest of the world and the psychotic court jesters of his rogue administration only continue to conspire to lead us all down the path that will ultimately conclude with the destruction of the very ideals of a democratic society if not the lives of those not only here in America but throughout the world. The crack down on dissent is coming that much is certain, too many people are starting to become restless and beginning to ask questions for it not to.

The equilibrium of international relations has not only been upset by these fools and charlatans but sent off spinning into the depths of some bizarre parallel universe in which up is down, wrong is right, truth is ignorance and war is peace. We have begun the journey down the rabbit hole, let us hope that the rabbit hole does not eventually end up being a mass grave. We are now on the precipice of the new crusades, a war of civilizations and religions perpetuated by those both ignorant of history as well as world culture.

We are now playing for keeps.
